What was it like: The fall/winter 2015 show marked Peter Copping’s debut collection for Oscar de la Renta. Formerly of Nina Ricci, Copping was , so naturally, it was the most highly anticipated show in town. In a letter Copping writes, “I am immensely proud to have been chosen as the Creative Director of Oscar de la Renta. In this, my first collection, I hope to honour Oscar’s legacy and also to start a new chapter for the house.”
Why we love this collection: From beginning to end, the line-up of ladylike daywear to extraordinary eveningwear was Oscar de la Renta to the core. “Copping was respectful, a gentleman who lived up to the standard Oscar would have expected,” wrote InStyle Fashion News Director Eric Wilson in his review. “[It] struck me watching his runway that the results were very much like []—sketches of the idea of de la Renta—full in the hips with a patrician posture.” But what earned the most gasps (and Insta snaps) was the parade of breathtaking showstoppers, like the columns embroidered with blooms, the dramatic two-toned “duchessina” ball gowns (one rendered in a mini), and exquisitely beaded numbers.
