Get the Woodstock vibe with ALLSAINTS

High-street darling of the front-row fashion crew and purveyor of perfect tomboy style (and the best leather jackets around), ALLSAINTS know a thing or two about laidback cool. So perhaps it’s no surprise that they’ve eschewed the hectic catwalks of New York Fashion Week for something far more relaxed – a mini-film of the Spring/Summer 17 collection in action. Their muse is Maya Thurman-Hawke (credited as Maya Hawke), and yes, if those surnames seem familiar they should be: she is the daughter of two of the coolest actors of their generation, Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke. Despite a striking resemblance to her mother, Maya has a fresh-faced beauty and nonchalant style all of her own. As ALLSAINTS Creative Director Wil Beedle explains, “Anyone who spends any time with Maya will tell you that she's smart, cool and possesses an infectious enthusiasm for new ideas, the creative process, and life in general.”

The video, entitled Far From Here, sees Maya taking a road trip, dancing through glorious wildflower meadows and jumping in a forest stream. Despite attending Juilliard, this was Maya’s first big gig as an actress and model and she was nervous, admitting in the video, “I’m insecure about this!” She needn’t be: Maya is perfect in the role, her soft blonde hair and freckles making her seem as though she grew up in the countryside. And indeed she did: she split her time between New York and Woodstock where the mini-film is set. The clothes echo the legendary status of the location where the Summer of Love started in 1969, offering an updated Bohemian vibe with soft cambric white tops and dresses under vividly colourful orange and purple leopard skin bomber jackets (the Cleo, coming soon) and loosely cut military shirts with logos like ‘far from from here’ and ‘Watch the Skies’, plus the instant bestseller Picolina dress, a delicate tiered frock covered in stars. It’s all worn with chunky Evi cowboy-style boots. There’s a real sense of space and beauty, emphasised by Karen Dalton’s gorgeous song Something On Your Mind, recorded in Woodstock in 1971. Wil concludes, “Making this film with Maya is a conscious decision to escape from the city.”

We’re excited for the whole collection, but how about a new accessory to get your new seasonal wardrobe started and carry you from winter to spring…
