is now a mom! The actress and her boyfriend, musician John Kastner, welcomed their first child together, a baby boy! Kastner posted this sweet image below on Friday and it looks like the pair will literally be singing the blues. The boy’s name is the musical-sounding: Blues Anthony Paré Kastner.

This is the first child for Paré and the second for Kastner, who is a dad to 8-year-old Summer Lee from a previous marriage.
The Canadian-born couple (both were born in Quebec) they were expecting back in September with a beyond-adorable on Kastner’s account. The photo shows now older sis Summer Lee wearing a shirt that says, “I’m going to be a big sister,” with Paré and her hubby hugging in the background (below). Congratulations to the growing family!

We’ve been to Coachella a couple of times now, and it has one of the best collections of music anywhere in the world. But here’s the thing: There are serious trade-offs. The weather in the desert is less than hospitable, bathrooms are hard to come by, and the lines for food might make you think you are standing in front of the last funnel cake stand on earth. But the festival is attacking that last problem this year.
The festival partnered with to let festival-goers actually make reservations to eat during the madness. Last year, Coachella gave attendees pop-up restaurants for the first time with food from the likes of L.A.’s Bäco Mercat and Night + Market. This year, they are expanding their offerings and will actually make it easier to get the food—at least, if you plan ahead. Using the Reserve app will give diners with VIP wristbands the opportunity to get $50 prix fixe menus from chefs like street food pioneer Roy Choi. The app also lets you pay ahead of time, so there aren’t any issues trying to split a check in the 105 degree heat when you just want to get back and hear Ratatat.
For anyone without a VIP wristband who wants to splurge, you can reserve a table at Outstanding in the Field, a four-course pop-up put on by a rotating group of chefs that comes with cocktail and wine pairings, as well as VIP access for the entire day for $225.
Before making reservations, everyone should know that while the app itself is free, Reserve charges for their service. Coachella reservations will cost $5 apiece. But anything that makes good food easier to get at a festival full of 90,000 people is fine by us. When met Shaun Leane in London during the late 1990s the fashion designer became immediately fascinated by techniques the master jeweler used to create pieces in precious gems and metals. A fast friendship formed based on an appreciation for art and craft and mutual interests in history and aesthetics. By the time McQueen was preparing to present his fourth collection he persuaded Leane to make statement accessories for the show.
“At first I found it difficult to think how I could make large pieces in the materials I was using but Lee [McQueen’s given first name] said ‘Shaun you are such a skilled craftsman if you apply your skills to other materials, you can create anything,’” remembers Leane. “He helped me change my thought process.” For over 17 years Leane worked on around 30 shows with Alexander McQueen. Many of his dramatic designs are featured in the new exhibition at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.
In celebration of the retrospective Leane created a capsule collection, the Limited Edition Reflective Series. It will be available for the duration of the exhibition from March 14 to Aug. 2 at the Harrods, and London’s Selfridges. The jewelry designer sat down with InStyle to tell us all about it.
What ignited the idea for this new collection? When I had the pieces the Victoria & Albert had selected brought from my archive to my atelier to be reconditioned for the display, it became very emotional and yet energizing. All of them were landmarks in my friendship and working relationship with Lee. My team and I reminisced over each piece, show, and the memories attached to them. This speared on the idea of the Reflective series. We wanted to recreate a collection with the energy and style of the original McQueen-Leane creations as well as the House of Shaun Leane’s spirit today.
The Coiled Corset for the La Dame Blue Spring 2008 collection (pictured above, left) is extraordinary and translates beautifully into the Quill cuff (above, right). The Quills really show the edge and sense of line Lee and I liked to explore.

Tell me about the star pendant inspired by your headpiece for the In Memory of Elizabeth Howe, Salem 1692 fall 2007 collection. The star headpiece shows the direction Lee and I were moving in—bringing fine jewelry styles to the catwalk in an avant-garde manner. The McQueen headpiece was purposely crafted to reveal the antique Victorian jewelry influence. It was the perfect example for me to recreate in fine jewelry since the original inspiration for the headpieces was a Victorian star brooch.

And then there are those amazing Eagle Claw Ball Gold and Silver Earrings inspired by the dramatic feather headpiece you did for The Widows of Culloden Fall 2006 collection. I wanted to re-visit the subject of birds and falconry because it inspired us both in many ways. The eagle headdress was a balance of macabre and beauty. I wanted to recreate that in these earrings
The ladies of brought it on last night’s episode. From one scene to the next, we couldn’t help but notice how amazing the wardrobe choices were—did you spot the leather dress worn by ’s Olivia Pope? Even guest star, , showed a different side of herself.
“We really felt that we had to create a different version of Lena,” the show’s costume designer, Lyn Paolo, told InStyle. “We tried to make everything that she wore more structured than she normally would wear. Lena would say, ‘These are grown-up lady clothes!'” The fittings with Dunham were memorable for Paolo as well. “She was a riot,” he said. “We laughed a lot in the fittings. She did selfies in Olivia’s white hat!”
As for last night’s episode, Paolo made sure to juxtapose Dunham’s character, Suzanne Thomas, with Olivia Pope by dressing both of them in contrasting bright blues in one scene. For Olivia, her striped blue jacket had a deeper meaning though.
“She’s trying to get back to normal, but she’s still struggling,” Paolo said. “This was our way of bringing her out of it a little bit. We rarely use that tone of blue, but you also see her usual grays and blacks in that jacket as well.” Olivia is slowly emerging from her shell, and even though it has been a difficult transition for her, she’s more like herself in each passing scene.

A death, a pregnancy, an arrest, a misdiagnosis, a hostile takeover, and an anointed heir for the Empire throne—was there ever any doubt that the Empire season finale would dish out anything less? FOX’s record-breaking, hip-hop soap opera has been jam-packed with juicy twists and turns in every episode, but the shocking revelations and hundred-watt star power of last night’s explosive, over-the-top finale left viewers with their jaws on the floor.
The two-hour event answered a lot of questions, raised some new ones, and featured everything from the accidental murder of Vernon (Malik Yoba) by a pregnant Rhonda (Kaitlin Doubleday), to Lucious (Terrence Howard) naming Jamal (Jussie Smollett) his successor even after we discover that Lucious was misdiagnosed with ALS and is no longer facing imminent death (but is however facing some jail time for the murder of his best friend Bunkie), to Snoop Dogg performing his new song “Peaches and Cream.” The finale’s impressive cameo roster also included performances by Juicy J, Patti LaBelle, Rita Ora, and returning guest star Jennifer Hudson.

Unlike all the other aforementioned guest stars, Hudson is playing neither a successful musician nor an Empire performer. Instead, she is playing the role of Michelle White, Andre’s (Trai Byers) music therapist and a devout Christian who is leading him down a new, spiritual path. Lucious uses Michelle in an attempt to break Andre’s newfound faith and prove that the lure of Lucious Lyons is more enticing the lure of God himself. Lucious offers Michelle a contract with Empire and in a shocking move—she accepts! “Jennifer’s stylist brought in a custom-made, white leather dress (above) for her on-stage performance at Lucious’s concert,” explains Rita McGhee, the costume designer of Empire. “She is a gospel singer and is from the church so she wore a white, flouncy dress to portray her naivety of the industry and her purity…however this sleeveless, short dress is less conservative and reveals more skin than she usually does and the texture of the dress is leather, which shows viewers that she might be able to be part of this world and become a star.”

In an even more shocking move, Boo-Boo Kitty and Cookie agree to team up for a hostile takeover of the Empire—but not without a catfight first! “I put Anika in the red BCBG jumpsuit (above) instead of her usual uniform of a skirt or a dress because those garments can be restrictive…she might need to move fast to dodge a punch or get ready to fight if she is meeting up with Cookie,” laughs McGhee. “When Anika is with Lucious she wears dresses to play on her femininity, but now she is alone and in control of her life. She is ready to get down to business,” McGhee reveals to InStyle. “Also, red is her signature color. She feels strong and powerful when she wears red and definitely needs strength and courage if she’s seeing Cookie.”

Contrastingly, Cookie, who usually looks ready to fight in predatory animal prints, wore a print that reflects their soon-to-be partnership. “The pattern on Cookie’s Elizabeth and James dress (above) reminded me of twigs and trees intertwined with each other, which worked beautifully with the scene since they end up forming a new alliance with each other,” McGhee divulges.
In the final scene, we see that the hostile takeover is in full-effect as Cookie watches Lucious get hauled away by police officers for the murder of her cousin Bunkie. “I picked this gorgeous red lace dress by Galia Lahav (below) for her last look because Cookie has the power now and she is taking over the Empire,” reveals McGhee. “I love the juxtaposition of this dress because the lace is soft and feminine but the red is strong and powerful.”

But one color Saldana was never interested in wearing in the past? Pink. “I’m not a pink girl. I was always against pink,” Saldana tells InStyle at The Hollywood Reporter & Jimmy Choo’s 5th annual 25 Most Powerful Stylists Luncheon yesterday. “I think it took Petra the first two years of our relationship for her to build up my confidence to wearing pink, and not feel weak or like a chick. I was equating it to all the wrong things, and pink is such a strong color. It’s so feminine but also very striking and commanding. And so she gets me to wear all shades of pink now.”
In the past year, the actress has been spotted in multiple hues of the color, from fuchsia to barely blush.

And when it comes deciding what the actress will wear, she reveals that it’s a joint effort: “It’s a very artistic process, and it’s always fun,” says Saldana. “For me, it’s never a strategic thing. I go by my moods. If I’m feeling really feminine, then we’ll do something with color. If I’m feeling like blue, we’ll do something that reflects that. Petra respects that you’re an artist, and she also respects everybody’s personality—she just tries to enhance it. She knows that the happier you are wearing an outfit, the more you’re going to rock it. She pushes me in all the right places.”
Flannery, who was awarded the top spot on The Hollywood Reporter’s annual list, also knows how to make getting red carpet-ready above all, a good time. “It’s all about having fun,” Saldana shares. “We always put some music on. We always do voices. We play characters. An hour fitting ends up becoming a four or five hour thing where we order food and drink champagne. It has to be fun for me because if the creative process isn’t, then what I’m wearing just feels very superficial and very fleeting.”
